Busy and overwhelmed? Here’s a way to bring some order to the chaos and stop the endless anxiety.

Right now, make a list on your phone with 3 categories:

No control

Some control

Complete control

Under “no control”, write down all the things in your life that you have absolutely zero control over. The weather, the actions and moods of others, freak accidents…you get the idea.

Under “some control”, write down the things that you have input on but can’t completely control. Some examples – emotions, outcomes of goals or projects (you can’t predict the future can you?), your health (genetics anyone?), etc.

Under “complete control”, write down what you have 100% control over. This list will be small – daily actions and attitudes are here. Maybe you can think of a few other things.

Be as specific as possible to your own life – name the exact emotions, anxieties, projects, etc.

Are you worrying about things that you can’t control? If so, consider how that worry is serving you. It might not be.

What’s under your control? Focus your goal setting and mental energy on that. You are free to let the rest go.
